I am horribly disgusted with the current state of politics, the shallow identity politics that floods popular media, the circumventing of any real discussion regarding true class politics. You can certainly find these discussions being held online and in alternative spheres, but popular news, media, and political commentators continually opt for flashy stories about "this trans woman just touched a kid", "this racist white guy just killed a black man", "this racist black guy just murdered a white man" "women are whoring themselves out due to liberalism", its exhausting and quite frankly, retarded. I admit I get baited like anyone, I am very susceptible to sexism from the right poisoning my view of them as a whole, though I have to remind myself that the radical sexism rampant on the right is not definitive of the whole group, and that I disagree with them for plenty better reasons than that. For example, I do not consider pro-life people to be inherently sexist, however it effects me and the rights of other women who I believe have superior arguements for their pro-choice beliefs. Anyway, the only time we should concern ourselves with identity politics is when a group is being targeted due to their identity-- We have a duty to other human beings to protect them from being dehumanized and oppressed. The amount of disgusting racist discourse flooding the internet is sickening, especially among creepy Sam Hyde Nick Fuentes loving types, which I am horrified to say is becoming more common among young men. What is most concerning is the cult-like obsession the right has with this idea that we as leftists are out to get white people and kill them. Taking horrible cases of murder committed by black men, trans people committing sex crimes, etc and amplifying the significance of those events to mean something othering, racist, transphobic, rather than look at it for what it is-- An unfortunate situation of a psychotic, psychopathic, or otherwise unwell person committing a crime. These things happen, and they don't have to mean anything greater about a racial heirarchy or trans people being diddlers. Though this opinion is hard to bring to some of my leftist friends, I even believe this happens extremely often on the left as well. I often think things are wrongly attributed to racism, sexism, or other forms of bigotry on the left, and it furthers division as well. I do believe what I'm seeing on the right is far more vitriolic, violent, racist and disgusting than their extreme leftist counterparts, but it doesnt convince me that all conservatives are this way. I dont like conservatives because they are pro-life typically, they tend to oppose giving money towards social services, use the word welfare like its dirty to say, and are generally against integration with outsider groups, be it based on sexuality, differing culture, etc. Their values are traditional in a way that doesnt align with mine, and more often than not I meet conservatives whose beliefs actively support people whose ideologies seek to infringe upon my life and the lives of those I care about by trying to make it so that outliers are not accounted for in policy (ie those with mental health issues, racial minorities, women who dont want children, people with alternative gender expression, so on). Anyway, the the most important point to be made here, is that we should all be collectively learning more about the economy, our government, our history, and (!!!) the history of OTHER countries. Americans have a very flat, one dimensional view of the world and the way people can/should live. We are blinded by America's obsession with itself to the point of not being able to consider alternatives to doing things that other countries may be ahead of us on (this is speaking very broadly, it can apply to many things all the way to infrastructure).

Being in Death and Dying has made me consider my own death in a way I otherwise wouldnt have. I do think about the possibility of death, but I now know enough about the different means of dealing with a body post-death to be able to say: I dont care what happens to my body! It's pretty much gross and disgusting no matter what. Embalming, donating to science, regular old decay.. Its all really undignified and grotesque. There's no way around the morbidity of death. Cremation is also very gross, it just happens quicker and only one person sees your body during the process. However, the emissions are really bad for the environment. Direct cremation is, however, the cheapest option. Let it be in writing that I dont care what my loved ones decide to do with my body after I die as long as 2 things are true: There is no open-casket funeral, and nobody spends a ridiculous amount of money on something dumb like a casket. If you absolutely MUST honor me with something expensive and cool, spend it on a really cool headstone. Put me a stone crow on there or something. Or just be smart and dont buy anything super extra. If it makes anyone feel better, if you have to use stuff thats really creepy and old, thats fine because I like goth stuff and thats just cool to me. Hell, get a $25 headstone from Halloween Express and put it out there. Anyway, consider donating my body to science. I really feel as though thats the best option because it makes me feel like I have been of use by helping someone develop their medical expertise, or furthering scientific research.
